About Regional Cancer Centre

Established in 1981, Regional Cancer Centre (RCC) Thiruvananthapuram is a premier cancer care institution under the Government of Kerala and is affiliated to the University of Kerala.

RCC has evolved as a comprehensive cancer centre providing tertiary level care with state-of-the-art facilities for diagnosis, treatment, research, education and prevention of cancer. The centre is recognized by the Government of India as a "Centre of Excellence" for cancer care and research.

Spread over 25 acres in the Medical College Campus, RCC has a bed strength of 350 including dedicated intensive care units, day care chemotherapy units, modern operation theatres, and advanced radiation therapy facilities.

Our mission is to provide equitable, affordable and advanced cancer care to all sections of society with special emphasis on the underprivileged. We follow a multidisciplinary approach with tumor boards comprising medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgical oncologists, pathologists, radiologists and other specialists deciding the best treatment plan for each patient.

Appointments can be booked online through our website, by calling +91-471-2524300, or in person at the registration counter. New patients should bring all previous medical records, including biopsy reports, imaging CDs, and treatment details if any.

RCC offers subsidized treatment rates for all patients. Costs vary depending on the type of cancer and treatment required. Patients belonging to below poverty line (BPL) category are eligible for further subsidies under various government schemes. An approximate cost estimate is provided after the initial consultation.

Yes, RCC has a 100-bedded subsidized accommodation facility (Sadanam) for patients and attendants. There are also several private lodges and hotels near the hospital. The Social Work Department can assist patients in finding suitable accommodation based on their budget.

RCC provides comprehensive support services including nutritional counseling, psycho-oncology support, pain and palliative care, physiotherapy, speech therapy, stoma care, and financial counseling. We also have patient support groups and survivor networks.
